Hear It!

Genesis 1:24-31 NLT

Then God said, “Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each producing offspring of the same kind-livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and wild animals.” And that is what happened.  God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each able to produce offspring of the same kind.  And God saw that it was good.  Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”  So God created human beings in his own image.  In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.  Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.”  Then God said, “Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food.  And I have given every green plant as food for all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the small animals that scurry along the ground-everything that has life.” And that is what happened.  Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good!  And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day.

“So God breathed life into Adam and Eve.  When they opened their eyes, the first thing they ever saw was God’s face.  And when God saw them he was like a new dad.  ‘You look like me,’ he said.  ‘You’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever made!’  God loved them with all of his heart.  And they were lovely because he loved them.  And Adam and Eve joined in the song of the stars and the streams and the wind in the trees, the wonderful song of love to the one who made them.  Their hearts were filled with happiness.  And nothing ever made them sad or lonely or sick or afraid.”

See It!

Look carefully at the painting.  Read the text out loud.  Talk about what you see.  What did God make on day six?  What kind of animals did he make?  How did he make the man and woman?

Sing It!

God Made Me

Words and Music by Judy Rogers
As recorded on Teach Me While My Heart Is Tender © 1995 Judy Rogers

Chorus

God made me, and ev’rything that in this world I see;

For His own glory God made ev’rything and me.

He made the seas, the mountains high,

The big bright rainbow in the sky,

For His own glory God made ev’rything and me.

Verse 1

God made the sunshine bright,

Stars that twinkle in the night;

He made the butterfly;

See the butterfly flutter by.

God made me, and ev’rything that in this world I see;

For His own glory God made ev’rything and me.

Verse 2

God made the kangaroo,

Fish that swim in the ocean blue;

He made the bear and lion,

The sticky prickly procupine.

God made me, and ev’rything that in this world I see;

For His own glory God made ev’rything and me.

Do it!
