Hear It!

Genesis 2:1-4 NLT:

“So the creation of the heavens and the earth and everything in them was completed.  On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation so he rested from all his work.  And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation.”

“God worked six days and then rested.  Now we can rest, knowing that he is always at work.”- Daniel Montgomery, Sojourn Teaching Pastor

See It!

Look carefully at the painting.  Read the text out loud.  Talk about what you see.  What are the children doing?  Who is holding the ropes?  What did God do on the seventh day?  What kind of day was it?

Sing It!

Almighty Creator

Words and music by Mark Altrogge.

Almighty Creator

You spoke and there was light

There was light

And by Your great power

You spoke and there was day

And there was night

And You made all things to

Show Your glory

Formed all things to bring You praise

Chorus:

And You’ve created me to worship You

And You’ve created me to love You

And You have made me to delight in You

All glory to Your name!

The mountains, the oceans

All creatures great and small

In the earth

All nations, all peoples

Of all colors came to be

By Your Word

And you shed your blood for

Our salvation

So You could make us anew

Chorus

Do It!

-Adapted from “Make a Creation Scrap Book” by Brent Camden

You will need:  white, blue, green, and brown construction paper, a pencil, a black permanent marker, cut-out pictures from a magazine, scissors, and glue sticks.

(1) Use a stencil to trace the number “7″ on blue construction paper, and cut it out.  Also fold one piece of white construction paper in half to form a booklet.

(2) Paste the number “7″ cut outs on the front of the white construction paper booklet.

(3) Cut out a blue circle and paste it in the center of the day “7″ booklet.   Add brown and green construction paper scraps, and paste animals or cut outs of anything you like on the earth – cars, buildings, toys, etc.   Because God made all things!

(4) Write the words, “And the Lord saw that it was good, so He rested,” on the front of the booklet with a black marker.
