Last night we threw a CD release party for Over The Grave: The Hymns of Isaac Watts, Volume One. Check out these photos from the event, taken by Chuck Heeke. Then hop on over to sojournmusic.com and find more cool photos of this event by Ryan Harvey.
The line outside The Block. This brand new building on the main campus of Southeast Christian Church played host to our release party. We were blown away by Southeast’s graciousness and assistance all day long.
Once inside The Block, Sojourners and other friends filed into the auditorium. In addition to an auditorium that is truly one of Louisville’s finest, The Block has a large cafe, video arcade, rock climbing wall and other cool features.
We sold hundreds of copies of Over The Grave and our 2007 release, Before The Throne, at our table outside the auditorium.
The community begins to gather and take their seats, before the music begins. Eventually all seats filled on the floor and balcony, while some people stood or played with infants and small children in the back of the auditorium or out in the cafe (where they were able to watch the concert on big screens).
Left-to-right: Jamie Barnes, Rebecca Dennison, Katie Vaughn. This Jamie Barnes Band opened the party up with Jamie’s original songs and great hymns and gospel songs like “It Is Well With My Soul” and “Go Down, Moses.”
Christi Osterday plays cello in the back. In my view, any band with a cello gets 5 bonus points for coolness.
And Dave Moisan gets Coolness Points for that hat. Dave played with the first of two Sojourn bands to perform songs from the new CD. He had a big part of the CD itself, singing, playing keyboard and co-writing several of the songs (including two with me and Neil Robins).
I don’t know if this gizmo is for sound, lighting or what. I just think it’s a cool shot. Thanks, Chuck.
Mike Cosper: guitarist, executive producer and our worship & arts pastor.
Drummer Ryan Harvey, who is also a photographer. You can see Ryan’s photos of the event (taken during the first and third set, when he wasn’t playing) at sojournmusic.com. This includes pics of our closing band, not seen here.
