Many of you men have looked into our upcoming Pastor’s School. Remember that the deadline for the fall term is July 15, which is almost upon us. Director of Operations Bryce Butler has some additional information and clarification for you:
- Pastor’s School is 40 weeks, in 2 20-week semesters which are broken into three 6-week modules
- Module 1: Leadership
- Module 2: Proclamation of the Word
- Module 3: Biblical Counseling
- Module 4: Mission, Mercy & Evangelism
- Module 5: Culture & Worship
- Module 6: Pastoral Care
- The first semester begins August 6th and ends the week before Christmas, Dec 17th
- DATE/TIME: every Thursday morning from 6:15-7:45 (doors open at 6 a.m. for fellowship but instruction begins promptly at 6:15)
- COST: $100 (covers retreat(s) and misc. items. We will have some scholarships for some men based on merit); resources will be an additional expense (no more than an additional $100) and we will provide the reading list soon (the resources are separate in order to keep your cost as small as possible and to allow you the opportunity to find the best deal on the resources listed)
- Each week we will spend 15 minutes on the supplemental work (Biblical & Systematic Theology); 30-45 minutes on the module discussion (i.e. Several chapters in Strauch) and then 30-45 minutes in cohort discussion
- I have linked an example of the philosophy of ministry (nothing more than a page):
That’s it, men. Remember you must apply by July 15 for the first semester. We hope to see you there.
Just to clarify…the philosophy of ministry can be longer but as a rule, a page is sufficient. Also, because of how things are scheduled (6-week modules), we will only allow one absence every module. This is to ensure you get all of the instruction needed and are able to participate actively as a member of your cohort. If this season of life is too busy, you can always jump into this in January. Thanks!
