Audra On The City, pt. 2 — Help, Wrong Campus, Inviting Friends & More

audonthecityI want you to know that Bobby Gilles came up with the idea for the title of this blog series. It wasn’t me being all egocentric (this time)!

If you haven’t joined The City yet, by the way, go to sojourn.onthecity.org/kiosk now and do so.  Remember that we’re only approving requests to join from Sojourn members and those who come to Sojourn worship services, since The City is for internal communication within the church.

Down to business….

General Use

Yesterday we covered getting your photo up, filling in your profile, stopping the e-mail insanity, and the joy of Hasslehoffs.

HELP! I need somebody…

Check it out: If you go under the “More” tab, there is a section entitled HELP. It is actually really, really helpful :) Please visit this to find answers to a wide variety of questions. There are even handy help guides available through this section.

Wrong Campus

If you are listed under the wrong campus, please befriend me and send a private message so I can get it taken care of from the administrative side :)

Why Can’t We Be Friends?

If you want to see what’s going on with your friends already on The City, use the search box by the “More” tab to find people. An example is Dave Richards.. when I start typing “D a v”, multiple options show up with the people’s pictures. Click on who you’re looking for… in this case, a dude with a crazy mullet. At the top right I’ll click “Request Friend.” Now, when Dave accepts my friendship and updates his status, it will show up on my home page.

If you have already changed your friend strategy (see yesterday’s post) to “Accept All” friend requests, the person asking for your friendship will be notified that the request was automatically accepted.

Group Leaders: Inviting Another Leader

Yesterday we covered submitting your group idea. Wow.. many of you have rocked it out and gotten your groups going. Now what?

After you have accepted my invitation to join the group you started, and I make you the leader you’ll be able to invite others and give positions of authority etc.

Under the “My Groups” tab, select the group you want to work with. Scroll down to the Group Participants area, click the “+ Invite Someone New” button. You’ll see two tabs, “In The City” and “Not In The City”. If you search for the person under In The City, and they aren’t there, you’ll need to use their e-mail address to invite him/her.

Once you have found the person (In The City) or put the proper e-mail (Not In The City) you want to invite and have added a custom greeting, click “Invite this Person.” Of course, it’s on him/her to accept before you can proceed.

After the person joins The City and your group, you get to distribute some power. When you go into your group, right beside the title (so long as you’re a leader) you’ll see a blue button that says “Edit Group”. Click it. The next page is good for many things and you will want to visit it if ever you need to change group time or location. At the bottom of the page click “Manage Users.” Under the “Role” column you can use the drop down menu to specify “Leader.” You’ll notice you can even choose host or apprentice. After you choose the appropriate role for a person, click the blue “Submit” button. This new leader will be able to create events etc.

Final Lap

That’s it for now.  Again, thanks to the Hasslehoffs for helping people with questions!!

Peace and God bless you all,

Audra
