We will celebrate another Baptism Sunday on March 14.  If you would like to take this important step in identifying with Christ and His bride, email baptism@sojournchurch.com or fill out our baptism registration form at sojournchurch.com, by Sunday, February 28.

And now, Casey Baldwin tells the story of his salvation, which led to a recent baptism at Sojourn Gathered:

Growing up I always claimed to be a Christian, but repeatedly showed I was not by my actions. I focused on school, trying to please everyone else, and trying to be that cool guy. I continued to live this way throughout my high school years.

At UofL I met a lot of great people and started attending a weekly gathering focused on deepening our understanding of the gospel. At these gatherings I met some people who were members and regular attenders of Sojourn.  After a couple weeks of encouragement from my friends I attended a Sunday service. At this service the pastor was preaching on this topic:  “stop going to church and be the church.”

During Communion, something was laid on my heart.  After taking a piece of the bread and dipping it in the cup, I returned to my seat and started praying. That is when it hit me.  At that moment I felt the weight of my sin, and I knew that I wanted to live my life for Christ. I began to cry. I understood what a sinner I am, and how great it was that Jesus Christ came and died on the cross for my sins, so that I could have life.

After that day I began gaining a deeper understanding of what it means to be a Christian. Then, after attending Sojourn for about nine months a friend and I decided to take the Membership classes.  It was during this time that I truly made it my sole purpose to live for Jesus Christ.

Jesus is now Lord of my life, and I know that He is the only way to life in heaven after death. I believe that Jesus died on the cross to save me, a sinner, and I trust him to lead and guide me.
