This past Sunday, Pastor Daniel spoke about the vision that he and our elders have for this church — a vision that goes beyond capital campaigns and 12-month plans. In fact, it’s such a big vision, with so many components, that the elders felt the need to lay it out before our members in a clear, easily accessible way.
So they directed me to launch a website for the 2010 Sojourn vision campaign.
“Another website?” you say?
Well, it’s as robust as a stand-alone site, and it has it’s own web address: vision.sojournchurch.com. But it’s also a part of sojournchurch.com. You can always get to the Vision campaign material by swinging over to sojournchurch.com. Just click:
- Give, which is one of the main headings at the top of the page.
- Then you can either click the “2010 budget” graphic to find all the details on this year’s budget and regular giving, or click the “What’s New” vision campaign graphic to go straight to this new Vision website.
So what’s in the Vision website? How is it gonna help me learn about this vision campaign?
We designed the site to be easy to navigate (when I say “We,” I mean our web designer, David Yeiser. He’s really smart, really good, and he’s a member of a church we planted in 2005 called Crossing Church).
But sometimes, no matter how basic the navigation, it’s easy to miss things if you don’t cruise the ‘net a lot. So …
What We Have On vision.sojournchurch.com Now:
You’ll immediately see a really cool logo designed by Sojourn member Tyler Deeb, along with our vision statement in a nutshell. Every Sojourner should be able to recite this in their sleep — it’s what we’re all about, and always have been about:
Our vision is to see the gospel transform everything: ourselves as individuals, our church, our city and the world.
Following that, you’ll see a statement regarding how many people we’d like to see in this church family by 2020.
Then you’ll see a link called “General FAQ.” Click that to read short, concrete answers to the most common questions we’ve heard so far, regarding this vision campaign.
Next up you’ll see three big section headings. Click on any of the three to read information about “What’s Now” and “What’s Next” — what the elders are aiming for. The three headings are:
Below that, you’ll see a toolbar with four section headings:
- Week One: Launch Week (this will obviously change every week. It will let you know all the new content we’ve added since the last week. This is the one place you can go to each week, to make sure you don’t miss anything)
- Prayer: Specific ways you can pray for the elders and this campaign. And at the end of March when we begin 4o Days of Prayer leading up to Commitment Sunday, you’ll be able to read a new prayer request each day.
- Resources: Click this to see videos (coming soon. We’ll have a few really cool videos for you) and other resources. Right now you will find
- the three Inside Sojourn podcast interviews I’ve done with Executive Pastor Bryce Butler (7-minute interviews where he answers questions like “Why a campus in New Albany,” and “Why buy a new building in Shelby Park?”)
- a detailed PDF of our upcoming “What’s New” Vision Campaign Booklet
- a Power Point slide show that will present to you the results of the recent survey that over 500 of you filled out.
Then at the very bottom you’ll find a link called “Share Your Story.” Click on that and you’ll see space to write in a testimony of what God has done for you through the Sojourn community. We’ve also built in space for you to provide a link to a video or audio testimony, if those mediums are more appealing to you than to have to type it out.
Cool, huh?
We’ll be adding some more things in the weeks to come, for sure. More audio, video, and of course, written content. We’ll also add some more interactive things as well. You will definitely not be in the dark pertaining to this vision campaign. Booyah!
